Texas crash report codes
Most boxes on the Texas Peace Officer's Crash Report (CR-3) hold a code from a numbered list. The two most people look up: field 38, Factors and Conditions, which is what the officer recorded as contributing to the crash (22 = Failed to Control Speed, 61 = Speeding - (Over Limit)), and field 16, Injury Severity (K = Fatal Injury, A = Suspected Serious Injury).
The codes record what the officer noted at the scene. They are one piece of evidence, not a court's finding of fault.
