From 2020 through 2024, 347 people died in 310 crashes on Alaska roads. That is 9.4 deaths a year for every 100,000 residents, below the US rate of 12.1, and the 38th highest rate of the 50 states and DC.
Anchorage Municipality had the most deaths (105). The road stretch with the most fatal crashes was SR-3 (Parks Hwy) in Matanuska-Susitna Borough (20). In 2024, 70 people were killed, 9% more than in 2020.
