Minimum car insurance by state

The minimum is what the at-fault driver's insurer may be good for when you are hurt. The most common limits are 25/50/25 (thousands of dollars per injured person, per crash, and for property), used in 19 states. The lowest per-person minimum is $15,000 in Louisiana and Pennsylvania; the highest is $50,000 in Alaska, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina and Virginia.
