How to get a crash report from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office sells crash reports through BuyCrash (LexisNexis) at buycrash.lexisnexisrisk.com. MCSO Departmental Reports fee schedule: $5.00 for the first ten pages, $0.50 per page for page 11+, $15.00 for a report on CD; first copy free to a victim under ARS 39-127. The BuyCrash price is not shown on MCSO's page. Allow seven (7) business days after the accident for the report to be uploaded to BuyCrash. Accident reports with serious or fatal injuries, or involved in a criminal offense, will not be available online. If you request by form/mail, records are sent within five business days after payment is approved, plus 4-7 business days for mail delivery.

    Statewide copies come from Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Department Records Unit, cost $9.00 by email (up to 5 MB) or fax (20-page limit); $9.00 on paper by mail for the first nine pages plus $0.10 per additional page; $10.00 on CD and are usually ready DPS receives completed trooper reports within 14 days of the incident; wait at least 14 days before checking.

    Arizona gives you two years to file a personal injury lawsuit (Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 12-542(1)). If a city, county or state vehicle was involved: Written claim must be filed with the public entity within 180 days after the cause of action accrues, and must state a specific settlement amount.
