How it is paid: Permanent partial impairment is paid as a total dollar amount = degrees of impairment x dollars per degree, paid weekly at 66 2/3% of the average weekly wage (wage counted capped at $1,316).

Injuries not on the chart

Partial loss of use of a scheduled member is paid for the proportionate loss of use (22-3-3-10(f)(9)); all other permanent partial impairment is paid in proportion to the degree of impairment, not exceeding 100 degrees (22-3-3-10(f)(13)); loss of one phalange of a thumb or toe counts as one-half of the member, and of a finger one-third (more than one phalange of a finger up to two phalanges, one-half). Compensation is limited to the combined maximum of $439,000 for injuries on or after 2026-07-01 (22-3-3-22(b)).

What a settlement adds or takes away

The chart is the statute's payment for a permanent injury. A lump-sum settlement can differ: it may also close out future medical care or wage loss, and the insurer and the judge must agree. A workers' comp lawyer in Indiana can tell you what your rating is likely to be.
