Injuries not on the chart

Ohio pays two kinds of permanent partial disability. A scheduled loss (loss or loss of use of a thumb, finger, hand, arm, toe, foot, leg, eye or hearing) pays the weeks above at the full statewide average weekly wage ($1,281 for 2026). Any other permanent impairment is a percentage permanent partial (%PP) award: percent x 200 weeks x the lesser of 66 2/3% of the worker's average weekly wage or $427 (33 1/3% of the statewide average weekly wage), and 90% or more pays the full 200 weeks (Ohio Rev. Code 4123.57(A)). The two can be received together and are in addition to temporary total compensation (4123.57(C)).

What a settlement adds or takes away

The chart is the statute's payment for a permanent injury. A lump-sum settlement can differ: it may also close out future medical care or wage loss, and the insurer and the judge must agree. A workers' comp lawyer in Ohio can tell you what your rating is likely to be.
