Texas workers' comp settlement chart

Texas does not pay by body part. After maximum medical improvement a doctor assigns a whole-person impairment rating (AMA Guides, Labor Code 408.124), and impairment income benefits are 3 weeks per percentage point at 70% of average weekly wage (408.121, 408.126), so total = rating x 3 x weekly rate (weekly rate capped at $920 for injuries from 2026-10-01). Loss of use of a body part is only a separate lifetime benefit when it is one of the 408.161 catastrophic losses.

Each week pays 70% of your average weekly wage, up to $920 a week (injuries from 2026-10-01 to 2027-09-30).

What a settlement adds or takes away

The chart is the statute's payment for a permanent injury. A lump-sum settlement can differ: it may also close out future medical care or wage loss, and the insurer and the judge must agree. A workers' comp lawyer in Texas can tell you what your rating is likely to be.
